Mappillai Samba is a traditional Tamil Nadu red rice named after a strength test for bridegrooms (mappillai), known for its high fiber and iron content, which helps to strengthen muscles, boost energy, improve stamina, and control blood sugar.
This hardy, organically grown rice is unpolished, retains its bran, and is slightly sticky when cooked. It is used for cooking plain rice, making idli, dosa, and other steamed dishes, and is considered beneficial for diabetics due to its low Glycemic Index.
